Sree Sundareswara Temple

Sree Sundareswara temple is situated at Kannur. This temple has a deity of lord Shiva, hence the temple is dedicated to Shiva God. In 1916, it was built by Shree Narayana Guru- the famous saint who devoted his life to uplift the downtrodden in Kerala. The interior of the walls are designed by Sri Chaithanyaall swami. This temple is also fames as one of the largest temples in Kannur.

The eight-day annual festival of the temple is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March- April). On the last day the Arattu (Holy Bath) ritual is held and is followed by a procession of caparisoned elephants and fireworks, which mark the end of the festival. Many religious and cultural programs add colour to the festival.

Getting There

Located only 3 kms from the city center, the Sundareswara Temple in Kannur is very popular among the locals and very easily accessible by public and private transport. The Cannanore Bus Stand is only 1.3 kms away from the temple in the same lane. KSR
